Eco-Tec honoured by CME for biogas purification technology

PICKERING, ONT-Eco-Tec, a manufacturer of water purification, gas processing and chemical recovery systems for industrial operations, recently received the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) Canadian Innovation Award for Environmental Technology for 2007. The Pickering company was recognized for its patented biogas purification technology. Biogas, a mixture of methane, carbon dioxide and water, is usually contaminated with highly corrosive levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Eco-Tec's system absorbs H2S from methane in a simple, economical package. The resulting gas is purified for use in power generation, cogeneration and heating applications. As a result, the process reduces greenhouse gases, creates minimal waste and increases energy recovery. It can be applied in a broad range of industries, such as pulp and paper mills, landfill gas, industrial processing, wastewater treatment plants, food and beverage processing and meat rendering plants. This marks the second time Eco-Tech has won the CME award in the same category. More information is available from Lisa Hausz at Eco-Tec, 905/427-0077, E-mail, Web Site
