Enpar receives repeat order from Swiss distributor for drinking water remediation system

GUELPH, ONT-Enpar Technologies reports that its Swiss distributor, Aqua & Terra, has purchased a specialized system for remediation of drinking water sources contaminated with nitrate. This represents a repeat order, noted Enpar president and CEO Dr Gene Shelp, who added, "Limited drinking water resources in many areas of the world are often prone to nitrate contamination from agricultural operations. Our leading-edge water treatment system can target specific contaminants such as nitrate." Statistics indicate that 40% of groundwater in Europe is already seriously polluted with nitrates, which contribute to over-fertilization of water bodies resulting in oxygen-deficient ecosystems.. In Germany for example, nitrate can be several times higher than the allowable 50 mg/L limit in areas of intensive animal farming. Within the human body, nitrates are converted into poisonous nitrites, which increase the risk of cancer and can lead to methemoglobinemia, or "blue baby" syndrome. Enpar, a water technology company based in Guelph, applies its patented and proprietary electrochemical technologies to the treatment of wastewater and drinking water contaminated by metals or nutrients, for example nitrate/ammonia associated with the mining, metal processing, chemical, agricultural, municipal and waste management sectors.
