Green Toronto Award finalists
TORONTO, ONT-From a field of 178 nominations, a panel of judges has selected 30 finalists for this year's Green Toronto Awards. A winner in each of the ten categories will be announced at the annual Green Toronto Awards reception at City Hall on May 1. Each winner will receive $5,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice. Among the finalists are: Altius Architecture, Parkdale United Church and St Gabriel's Church (in the Green Design category, sponsored by Enbridge); Levitt Goodman Architects with Perennial Gardens Corp and Ryerson University (in the Green Roof category, sponsored by the Clean Water Foundation); EnviroTower and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (in the Market Transformation category, sponsored by Bullfrog Power); Scotia Plaza and Unilever (in the Water Efficiency category, sponsored by Toronto Water); and Dr David Pengelly (in the Health category, sponsored by Genuine Health). The environment-related programs or projects of a City division, agency, board or commission will be also recognized with an Environmental Achievement Award. The three finalists this year are Toronto Hydro's Summer Challenge program, Toronto Water's Operational Support, and the city's Waste Diversion Team.
