RV Anderson, partners awarded $21M sewage disposal project in India

OTTTAWA, ONT-RV Anderson Associates has been awarded a contract for the second phase of a major sewage disposal project in Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India. The Ottawa-based engineering firm will carry out the project as part of a consortium, in partnership with Mott MacDonald, of the U.K., and PHE Consultants, of Mumbai. The $21-million (Cdn) contract was awarded by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and is part of one of the largest wastewater design and construction projects in India, with an overall value of $350 million. Phase II of the project involves the design and construction of priority improvements to the city's wastewater system, which serves more than 12 million people. It follows from a 25-year master plan for Mumbai's wastewater systems, which RV Anderson developed, also in collaboration with Mott MacDonald and PHE Consultants. RV Anderson has been providing engineering and related services in India since 1994, and in 2002 received the Canada-India Business Council's first annual Canada-India Business Partnership Award, presented to Canadian firms that have been developing new business opportunities in India. More information is available from Alan Perks at RV Anderson Associates, 613/226-1844, or from Kenneth Morrision in the company's Toronto office, 416/497-8600.
