Nominations open for third Green Toronto Awards
TORONTO, ONT-Nominations for the third annual Green Toronto Awards are being accepted until 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007. The awards recognize individuals, community groups and companies that are contributing in various ways to Toronto's environmental well-being. There are ten categories for the 2007 awards: community projects; energy conservation; environmental awareness; green design; green roof; health; leadership; market transformation; water efficiency; and youth. Nominated projects, individuals or companies must operate or reside in the City of Toronto to be eligible, and the activities must have been in progress during 2006. Elected officials, city of Toronto staff and previous winners of Green Toronto Awards are not eligible. Corporate sponsors of this year's awards include AutoShare, Enbridge, Genuine Health, Loblaw Companies, TD Bank Financial Group, Toronto Community Foundation, Toronto Hydro and Toronto Water. In May, the ten recipients will each receive a Green Toronto Award and $5,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice.
