Terrawinds project resumes after parties commit to agreeing on turbine placement

RIVIERE-DU-LOUP, QUE-Following a brief suspension of work on the Terrawinds wind energy project in the regional municipality (RM) of RiviËre-du-Loup last month, SkyPower Wind Energy Fund resumed construction at the end of July. SkyPower stopped work on July 19, saying it had been unable to obtain from the RM the necessary revisions to interim regulations put in place earlier this year that would provide the setbacks and variances that the company needed in order to complete the park in a timely and economically viable fashion. Quebec Natural Resources and Wildlife Minister Pierre Corbeil intervened: a meeting of the parties held at his request on July 28 led to a commitment by all involved to work toward an agreement on the final turbine placement for the 201-megawatt Terrawinds project.
