Lafarge Bath plant honoured for environmental programs
BATH, ONT-Lafarge Canada has received two awards in recognition of environmental programs carried out at its cement plant in Bath, Ontario. The Portland Cement Association (PCA) bestowed its 2005 Land Stewardship Award on Lafarge for the continuing environmental improvements made on the plant property, including transformation of a section into a wildlife habitat. Among the judges for this award were the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and World Wildlife Fund. The Bath facility was also a finalist for the PCA's Outreach and Innovation award and a runner-up for its Overall Environmental Excellence award. In addition, the plant received the 2006 Lafarge North America Environmental Excellence Award, honouring the commitment of company employees to Lafarge's environmental programs, including multi-year support for Ducks Unlimited, which has provided continuing assistance and advice on wetland improvements for the plant site.
