Kingston begins $115M expansion of water pollution control plant
KINGSTON, ONT-A $115-million expansion of Kingston's Ravensview water pollution control plant, launched on August 3, is the largest single capital project by the city in its history. Upgrades to existing buildings and operations will help improve the plant's performance, while state-of-the-art filters at the expanded plant will improve wastewater treatment and the addition of new facilities will increase the plant's capacity to manage waste. A $25-million grant is being provided for the project by the provincial government through its $30-billion ReNew Ontario infrastructure investment plan, and the federal government has contributed $25 million. The city of Kingston will fund the balance of the project.
