EUB to probe pipeline gas release

CALGARY, ALTA-The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) will investigate a July 25 release of sweet natural gas from Pembina Pipeline's Fox Creek pump station. This incident, which injured two workers, occurred approximately 1.5 km northwest of Fox Creek near Highway 43. The release did not result in a fire, and no evacuations were necessary. Although there was no risk to public safety, Highway 43 north of Fox Creek was closed for approximately one hour as a precautionary measure. EUB staff responded immediately to the incident, overseeing control of the release, which was completed around 1:00 p.m. the same day. The Board has subsequently begun an investigation into the incident.
