GL&V finalizes Enviroquip purchase
MONTREAL, QUE-Groupe LaPerrière & Verreault (GL&V) has completed its acquisition of Enviroquip for a total purchase price of $22.8 million. The Austin, Texas company manufactures water and wastewater treatment equipment, mainly for municipalities. In addition to various aeration, filter underdrain, aerobic digestion, belt filter press and clarifier systems, Enviroquip holds the exclusive U.S. municipal market licence for the Submerged Membrane Unit, a wastewater treatment technology developed by the Japanese multinational company Kubota. GL&V has been the exclusive Kubota membrane licensee in Canada for the municipal market since 2004. Richard Verreault, president and chief operating officer of GL&V, said the Enviroquip acquisition will enable GL&V's water treatment group (Eimco Water Technologies) to establish its presence in a market segment that is growing faster than the wastewater treatment industry as a whole, and where there are considerable barriers to entry due to numerous existing patents and to the considerably long period of time for acquiring market share.
