Groups, projects recognized at second Green Toronto Awards
TORONTO, ONT-Toronto's second annual Green Toronto Awards were recently presented to nine groups and individuals to honour their outstanding achievement and contribution to the greening of Toronto. The winners (with categories noted) included: the Brahms Energy Saving Team (Community Projects, sponsored by Loblaw Companies); Tridel (Energy Conservation, sponsored by AutoShare); EcoSchools program (Environmental Awareness, sponsored by Toronto Hydro); Toronto Botanical Garden (Green Design, sponsored by Roots); Dufferin Grove Organic Farmers' Market (Health, sponsored by ACE Bakery); Environmental Defence (Leadership, sponsored by Toronto Community Foundation); Bullfrog Power (Market Transformation, sponsored by Perfectly Natural); Upper Canada College (Water Efficiency, sponsored by Toronto Water); and the Jackman Avenue Public School Green Team (Youth, sponsored by the TD Bank Financial Group). The winners, who were chosen from among 130 nominations received, received $5,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice.
