Western Wind Energy signs supply deal for Mitsubishi wind turbines

COQUITLAM, BC-Western Wind Energy has executed a formal turbine supply agreement with Mitsubishi Power Systems under which the Japanese company will initially provide 15 one-megawatt MHIA 1000A wind turbine generators, for Western Wind's 15-megawatt (MW) wind project in Arizona. Delivery of the units is slated for October of this year. The turbine supply agreement further calls for the supply of up to 900 more MW of wind turbine generators for future projects. Western Wind says this long-term turbine supply agreement provides a strong foundation for its future growth, as Mitsubishi has produced more than 2,000 wind turbine generators which are in service throughout the world, and has gained a solid reputation for reliability and warranty. Over the past two years, Western Wind has concluded power purchase agreements (PPAs) valued at over $900 million and totaling 159.5 MW from the sale of wind energy electrical generation to three separate utilities. The Coquitlam-based company was the first to execute a wind PPA in New Brunswick and in the state of Arizona.
