$21M contract marks TORR Canada's entry into Middle East water treatment market
MONTREAL, QUE-TORR Canada (formerly Earth (Canada) Corporation) has been awarded a $20.9-million (U.S.) contract by SK Engineering & Construction (SKEC) for seven sets of TORR water treatment systems that will treat 260,000 barrels per day of produced water. The systems will be used by Kuwait Oil in conjunction with their intensive program to upgrade and relocate underground process piping at ten gathering centres and a booster station. TORR Canada president and CEO Alain Ferland said, "This contract gives us an entry point into the Middle Eastern market and represents a meaningful accomplishment towards our goal of increasing our market penetration worldwide." The company anticipates that a yearly supply of its RPA(r) cartridges will be required to treat the specified quantities of produced water, and has proposed a number of options which, if accepted by SKEC, could increase the value of the contract to as much as $22.4 million (U.S.). The patented TORR system consists of a total oil remediation and recovery unit, together with the RPA cartridge, a reusable petroleum adsorbent.
