Toronto Green Guide resource describes city's environmental projects, programs, policies
TORONTO, ONT-The city of Toronto has published a new Green Guide, a directory of the city's environmental projects, programs and policies. The publication, unveiled by Toronto Mayor David Miller and Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone, who heads the city's Roundtable on the Environment, is a project of the Roundtable, a group of 13 community members who are experts on environmental issues, along with the mayor and two councillors. The Green Guide organizes environmental topics according to themes, such as a series of water-related programs and projects under the heading "Purer Water" and transportation-related items under the heading "People in Motion." It provides an extensive list of community environmental organizations and other useful appendix items. A small number of Green Guides have been printed on Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper. The online version of the guide, with features such as electronic links to the Web sites of local environmental organizations, is available at www.toronto.ca/greenguide. Details about the Roundtable on the Environment are available at www.toronto.ca/committees/rt_environment.
