MNR approves Axor Group plan for waterpower facilities
TORONTO, ONT-Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has approved another proposal to develop waterpower sites on Crown land. Axor Group's plan to develop two waterpower facilities on the Namewaminikan River has the potential to generate 11 megawatts of emission-free power, noted Natural Resources Minister David Ramsay. The company can now pursue approval to build waterpower facilities, along with the opportunity to bid their electricity production into the Ministry of Energy's request for proposals. The proposed project sites must also undergo environmental assessments and public review before construction of the waterpower facilities can begin.
