Carmanah Technologies signs letter of intent for solar installation at Toronto's Exhibition Place

VICTORIA, BC-Carmanah Technologies recently signed a letter of intent with the city of Toronto for the design, production and installation of a $1.2-million solar power system on the roof of the Horse Palace at Exhibition Place. The company says the 15,000-square-foot installation of high-efficiency solar modules will be the largest system of its kind in Canada. Designed to generate up to 100 kilowatts (kW) of power, the system is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the facility by more than 94 tonnes per year. The solar modules will be manufactured by another BC company, Soltek Powersource, which was acquired by Carmanah last year. Carmanah is a well-established producer of solar LED (light-emitting diode) lighting for industrial and municipal applications such as bus shelters, airport runway markers, road signs and roadway lighting.
