Western Wind Energy reaches purchase deal with leading European turbine manufacturer

COQUITLAM, BC-Western Wind Energy reports that a leading European wind turbine manufacturer has agreed to supply 20 megawatts (MW) of new wind turbine generators in 2006, for Western's Grand Manan project in New Brunswick. The purchase is valued at more than $20 million (Cdn), with an agreement for delivery in 2006 to be formally finalized by January 31, 2006. Western was awarded the 20-MW contract by New Brunswick Power in June 2004 and over the past year has negotiated more than $800 million worth of wind power purchase agreements (PPAs), totaling 159.5 MW, with three separate utilities. The company was the first to reach a wind PPA in New Brunswick, as well as in the state of Arizona. and in California, is expanding from management's 24-year continuous operating history in the Tehachapi Pass.
