Bullfrog Power expands service to Ottawa

TORONTO, ONT-Bullfrog Power, Ontario's first 100% green electricity retailer, has extended its service to Ottawa residents. By switching their electricity provider to Bullfrog Power, Ottawa residents pay a modest premium for green power and at the same time direct their electricity dollars to clean, renewable power. Bullfrog Power is the only electricity retailer in Ontario that buys power exclusively from wind and low-impact hydro generators who meet or exceed the federal government's Environmental Choice(r) program standard for renewable electricity (ELW October 10, 2005). Phil and Laura Jackman, local residents who have long been involved in supporting community-level sustainability programs in Ottawa, have become Bullfrog Power's first residential customers. The company also reports that several organizations in Ottawa have chosen to become bullfrogpowered, including TerraChoice, the marketing firm that manages the Environmental Choice program and EcoLogo certification process on behalf of Environment Canada. Other new corporate clients include The Otesha Project, an innovative environmental group focused on encouraging practical everyday techniques for avoiding over-consumption, and The Delphi Group, a consulting firm in the environment and clean energy sectors. And in February 2006, Winterlude's Healthy Lifestyles Show will be a bullfrogpowered event. The consumer health show, to be held at Ottawa's Lansdowne Park, showcases the latest products and services that improve mental and physical well-being and the environment. Bullfrog Power will be a silver sponsor and exhibitor at the event. More information is available on Bullfrog Power's Web site,
