Specialty software helps Albian Sands Energy achieve ISO 14001

FORT MCMURRAY, ALTA-Albian Sands Energy's Muskeg River mine, near Fort McMurray, Alberta recently achieved ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system (EMS). The company retained Envirochem Services, based in North Vancouver and Toronto, to facilitate the development of the EMS with on-site services and installation of custom management systems software. The EMS encompasses all operational and maintenance activities at the site including the mine, bitumen extraction process and storage facilities. A key component of meeting the certification was Albian Sands' utilization of Environmental Office(tm), Envirochem's own EMS software. The user-friendly program tracks all environmental aspects, activities and commitments in a logical manner. Albian Sands contracted Envirochem to design and deliver content for computer-based training for all operational areas. The system is being used to train over 1,000 workers including staff, new hires and contractors. More information is available on Envirochem's Web site, www.envirochem.com.
