Waste hauler guilty of two charges under EP Act
HAMILTON, ONT-Terratec Environmental, a Hamilton company providing waste haulage, treatment and disposal services, recently pleaded guilty to two charges under the Environmental Protection Act relating to equipment marking and documentation. In May 2004, a Ministry of Environment inspector observed a company employee unloading liquid leachate waste, which was authorized by Terratec's certificate of approval (C of A). The inspector also noted, however, that the C of A number was not marked on the tanker or the trailer, as required, nor was there a copy of the C of A in the vehicle (also required). Terratec was charged with two counts of failing to comply with a condition of its C of A and fined a total of $2,000 plus victim fine surcharge.
