Licences to proceed for Red River Floodway
WINNIPEG, MAN-Manitoba Conservation Minister Stan Struthers has indicated that the Manitoba Floodway Authority will receive an environment licence to expand and maintain the Red River Floodway. Manitoba Water Stewardship will also be issued an operating licence for the expanded floodway, he said. The licensing follows provincial consideration of the Clean Environment Commission's (CEC) report on public hearings into the Red River Floodway expansion project (ELW June 27, 2005). The CEC recommended issuing the licences, based on public consultation and an environmental impact statement and related material prepared by the Manitoba Floodway Authority.
