Apartment owner fined for release of partially treated sewage

FREDERICTON, NB-An apartment building owner in Lac Baker, recently pleaded guilty to a charge of releasing a contaminant into or upon the environment, in violation of New Brunswick's Clean Environment Act. Guildo Nadeau was charged in February 2005 by the Department of the Environment and Local Government after a departmental inspector sampled the effluent from the wastewater disposal system serving the four-unit apartment building. Test results from the samples taken in July 2004 indicated that partially treated sewage was being released into the environment. Nadeau was fined $1,200.
