EUB extends Compton deadline for notification about North Okotoks drilling application
CALGARY, ALTA-The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) has granted Compton Petroleum an extension to November 1, 2005 to notify the EUB about whether the company intends to proceed with its application for the Compton North Okotoks sour gas drilling program. In a decision issued June 22, the Board initially gave Compton until August 15 to provide notification (ELW June 27, 2005). In granting the extension, the EUB emphasized that a central element of Compton's efforts is the establishment of a co-operative relationship with municipalities, the Calgary Health Region, and other government agencies. This is a necessary step in creating an effective Emergency Response Plan. The Board also noted that Compton requested additional time to address related aspects of its Land Use and Resources Agreement with landowners. As a result of the notification deadline extension, the ensuing deadline for Compton's submission of its Emergency Response Plan is also extended, to January 1, 2006. All other dates remain unchanged as set out in the June 22 decision (2005-060).
