BC premier names new Environment Minister
VICTORIA, BC-Following his re-election as premier of British Columbia, Gordon Campbell introduced several new members into his cabinet, including Chilliwack-Kent MLA Barry Penner as the new Minister of Environment. He will also be Minister responsible for Water Stewardship and Sustainable Communities. Penner was a lawyer practising in Chilliwack before first being elected in 1996. Re-elected in 2001 and 2005, he has served on a number of government committees and is known as a strong supporter of small-hydro, wind power and other clean energy sources. Richard Neufeld has retained his post as Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, while Rich Coleman has been appointed Minister of Forests and Range.
