Throne Speech reinforces environmental commitments for "The Next Alberta"

EDMONTON, ALTA-The Alberta government's Throne Speech, delivered March 2, promised a "diverse and growing economy," including significant environment-related commitments. For "The Next Alberta," the province has pledged to: allocate the $3 billion already committed for municipal infrastructure; develop a provincial plan for water conservation, in partnership with the Alberta Water Council; increase consultation with Aboriginal people on resource development and land access; act on the recommendations of the rural development strategy; and develop an environmental, resource and land-use framework.
