Comments invited on draft growth plan for Greater Golden Horseshoe
TORONTO, ONT-The Ontario Ministry of Public Infrastructure Renewal (MPIR) is inviting public comments until April 18, 2005 on a draft growth plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The draft plan is based on the Places to Grow: Better Choices, Brighter Future discussion paper released in July 2004, along with input received during eight public meetings held throughout the region and attended by more than 1,600 people. It will guide decisions on a wide range of issues, such as economic development, land use planning, natural heritage and natural resource protection, provincial infrastructure planning and the development of municipal official plans. The growth plan should be considered in conjunction with other provincial plans, including the Niagara Escarpment Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and the Golden Horseshoe Greenbelt Plan. The document has been posted as an information notice on the Environmental Bill of Rights registry by the Ministry of Environment on behalf of the MPIR, which is not a prescribed ministry under the EBR. It may be viewed at www.ene.gov.on.ca, registry reference No XA05E0006.
