Workers charged under federal Fisheries Act
HALIFAX, NS-Steven Christiansen and Kenneth Greencorn of Atlantic Utility Maintenance have been charged with violating section 36(3) of the Federal Fisheries Act. The charges, filed by Environment Canada on December 19, 2004, allege that on August 26, 2004, the two workers allowed paint stripper to enter a storm drain discharging into Bennery Brook. The incident is alleged to have occurred while they were stripping paint from an aircraft at the IMP Aerospace Hanger 3, Halifax International Airport. The two appeared in Dartmouth provincial court, where the case was adjourned until February 23, 2005. The defendants will return at that time to enter their plea.
