Steel finishing plant certified to ISO 14001

HAMILTON, ONT-Republic Engineered Products' plant in Hamilton, Ontario (Republic Canadian Drawn) has been certified to the ISO 14001 environmental standard. The Hamilton facility became part of Republic in January 2004, making it the Fairlawn, Ohio-based company's sole Canadian operation. All of Republic's other facilities have also been awarded recertification of their environmental management systems to the ISO 14001 standard, effective through to November 2007. Independent evaluation to verify compliance with the standard was carried out by ABS Quality Evaluations. Republic Engineered Products supplies special bar quality (SBQ) steel, a highly engineered product used in axles, drive trains, suspensions and other critical components of automobiles, off-highway vehicles and industrial equipment. The company has steelmaking operations are in Canton and Lorain, Ohio, and value-added rolling and finishing facilities in Canton, Lorain and Massillon, Ohio; Lackawanna, New York; and Gary, Indiana, as well as Hamilton, Ontario.
