Saint John charged with failing to comply with approval for water treatment system
FREDERICTON, NB-The New Brunswick Department of the Environment and Local Government has charged the city of Saint John with violating the provincial Clean Environment Act. The charge alleges that on April 16, 2004, the city failed to comply with a term or condition of the operating approval for its water treatment system issued under the Water Quality Regulation - Clean Environment Act. A July 21, 2004 court date has been set. The legislation provides for a maximum fine of $1 million if convicted.
