Four upstream oil and gas firms named CAPP's 3rd Stewards of Excellence

CALGARY, ALTA-Devon Canada, BP Canada, EnCana and Dynamic Oil and Gas were this year's recipients of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers' (CAPP) third annual Steward of Excellence awards, presented at a September 17 luncheon in Calgary. More than 200 oil and gas stakeholders attended to recognize the exceptional work of these four CAPP member companies. Devon received the award in the Environmental Performance category, with BP Canada honoured for Health and Safety Performance, EnCana for Social Performance and Dynamic for Stewardship Performance. "These awards mark outstanding effort by our members to embody the stewardship ethic in their day-to-day operations," said Brian Maynard, CAPP vice-president of stewardship and public affairs. The award-winning companies demonstrated: industry credibility and an increased relationship of understanding and trust with key stakeholders; senior management commitment; a systematic approach to performance and communication; and peer-to-peer partnerships, learning and mentorship. CAPP will soon be presenting its new Stewardship framework, defining the industry's collective commitment to a common set of values - a Corporate Responsibility Policy for the industry - to its Board for approval. The Association represents 150 companies that explore for, develop and produce natural gas and oil in Canada. Its member companies produce more than 98% per cent of Canada's natural gas and crude oil. CAPP also has 125 associate members providing diverse services which support the upstream crude oil and natural gas industry.
