Resource Recovery Board's 6th Mobius Awards honour success in waste reduction, recycling
HALIFAX, NS-Nova Scotia's Resource Recovery Fund Board (RRFB) recently presented the sixth annual Mobius Environmental Awards to Nova Scotians who have made a significant contribution toward protecting the environment. "The Mobius Environmental Awards is an excellent opportunity to recognize organizations, communities and individuals for their demonstrable work toward reducing waste, recycling, and composting that ultimately helps to protect our fragile environment," said RRFB chief operating officer Derek Firth. Individuals and organizations were selected to receive the environmental awards in 13 different categories, among them: Business of the Year-Crossley Carpet Mills, in Truro, and Sunflower Natural Foods, in Antigonish; Industry Steward of the Year-ChemEx, Dalhousie University; Innovation in Waste Management-Touch on Wood, Sydney; Waste Management Education-Eco-Efficiency Centre, Dartmouth (also winner of the national Pollution Prevention Award); Region of the Year-Region Six Solid Waste Management; Enviro-Depot of the Year-Glace Bay Recycling, in Glace Bay; and Institution of the Year-Acadia University, in Wolfville.
