News Summary: Falconbridge charged charged over effluent release
TIMMINS, ON, April 9 /CNW/ - Falconbridge Limited has been charged with a discharge into Three Nations Creek from its Kidd Metallurgical Division in Timmins. The Kidd Metallurgical Plant smelts and refines ores from various company mines. It is alleged that effluent discharged on April 17, 2001 was likely to cause an adverse effect on the creek, a contravention of section 30(1) of the Ontario Water Resources Act. The first court date is scheduled for April 17, 2003 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins.
