Local agency receives $60K to study feasibility of regional e-waste facility
HARROWSMITH, ONT-The Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) has been awarded $60,000 in funding to determine the feasibility of a three-stage electronic waste diversion facility for the region. The project will look at ways to eliminate and recycle electronic waste, such as information technologies and telecommunications equipment, in rural areas of eastern Ontario. Options are being considered for the collection, processing and distribution of electronic waste. The funding is being provided through FedNor, the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario. The Frontenac CFDC is one of 61 CFDCs in rural and Northern Ontario funded by Industry Canada's Community Futures Program through FedNor. CFDCs deliver a wide variety of programs and services to support community economic development and small business growth.
