More dates set for NRTEE sessions on quality of urban environment
OTTAWA, ONT-The National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) has set February 24 as the date for the Toronto meeting in its series of National Information Sessions: Securing our Wealth: Investing in the Environmental Quality of Canadian Cities. Other forthcoming dates and locations include January 15 in Montreal; January 22 in Halifax; and January 30 in Ottawa. Previous sessions were held in the fall in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg. The free information sessions are bringing together leading urban specialists and regional experts to discuss issues such as urban sprawl, gridlock, noise, smog and site contamination. Related topics included allocation of dollars for infrastructure, stimulating shifts to public transit, changing fiscal policy and tax systems to encourage the efficient use of energy and land, and overcoming barriers to brownfield redevelopment.
