Safety-Kleen certifies U.S. EMS program to ISO 14001
PLANO, TEXAS, April 18 /CNW/ -- Safety-Kleen Systems last week reported that its Environmental Management System (EMS) has been certified to the ISO 14001 standard. The company retained the independent consulting firm of Cameron-Cole LLP to audit the EMS program throughout its development, and to certify that implementation of the EMS program fully complies with ISO 14001 requirements. Safety-Kleen's EMS is now in place at more than 150 facilities throughout the United States and includes approximately 3,000 employees. The company began developing its EMS in early 2003, investing more than 50,000 person-hours in developing a program linking all of its facilities, training programs and operating procedures to ensure that all of Safety-Kleen's services are performed consistently and in compliance with all environmental laws and regulations. The company expects to complete ISO 14001 certification audits for its U.S. recycling centres and oil refinery by the end of 2005. Safety-Kleen provides a broad range of environmental services and products to hundreds of thousands of customers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
