Fort Battleford project to include various green energy sources
BATTLEFORD, SASK-Major improvements to the Fort Battleford National Historic Site in Saskatchewan will include the development of new solar, wind and ground heating systems throughout the facility, along with the construction of a new visitor reception centre. The $1.67-million project, being carried out by Carmont Construction, of Saskatoon, is being partially funded through the federal government's Federal House in Order initiative, administered by Natural Resources Canada. NRCan will provide $441,000 from this initiative. The design of the new visitor centre includes a hybrid of multiple alternative energy uses which will help the building approach full self-sustainability. Construction is slated for completion in October 2005.
