Asphalt firm charged with violating NB petroleum regs
FREDERICTON, NB-A Saint John-area asphalt company has been charged with two violations of the Petroleum Product Storage and Handling Regulation under the provincial Clean Environment Act. The Department of Environment and Local Government alleges that on July 27, 2004, McAsphalt Industries constructed or installed a petroleum product storage system with a capacity of 2,000 litres or more without a site approval or an environmental approval from the Minister. The department also alleges that on the same date, the construction or installation of this system was performed by a business that was not the holder of a business registration authorizing the business to perform such work. The company was scheduled to appear in court this week.
