Nova Scotia to participate in joint review of cleanup

HALIFAX, NS-The Nova Scotia government has agreed in principle to participate with the federal government in the joint panel review of the Sydney Tar Ponds and coke ovens cleanup project. Ron Russell, Minister responsible for the Sydney Tar Ponds Agency, noted that the province will not contribute more than $120 million to the cleanup, nor will the government tolerate lengthy delays in the panel review process. The federal government has committed $280 million to the joint cleanup effort.
