Neenah certifies Ont, NS woodlands to SFI program standards

TERRACE, BAY, ONT-Neenah Paper's woodlands operations in Ontario and Nova Scotia have earned certification from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative(R) (SFI) program, an international program dedicated to sustainable forestry practices. SFI certification, based upon the results of an independent, third-party audit, confirms that Neenah Paper's forests are being managed in a manner that demonstrates a clear commitment to the environmental, social, and economic attributes associated with sustainable forest management. In northern Ontario, Neenah's Terrace Bay mill is supported by the Longlac woodlands, in existence since 1937. In Nova Scotia, Neenah's Pictou timberland supports a mill as well as a tree nursery producing seedlings for reforestation. Based in Alpharetta, Georgia, Neenah Paper also has manufacturing operations in Wisconsin and Michigan. The company produces and sells bleached pulp, used mainly for tissue and writing papers. It also makes a variety of premium and specialty paper grades. More information is available on Neenah's Web site, www.neenah.com.
