Drinking water remains safe in Alberta towns after heavy rain, flooding

TURNER VALLEY, ALTA-The most recent testing by Alberta Environment of the Sheep River near the communities of Turner Valley, Black Diamond and Okotoks confirms that drinking water quality remains safe in spite of recent heavy rainfall and flooding. The tests have showed no detectable levels of hydrocarbons in the river. Alberta Environment staff plan to remain on-site, continuing with sampling and monitoring and providing assistance to water treatment operators and other local officials until the river returns to pre-flood levels.
