Public review process begins for AV Cell pulp mill permit renewal
FREDERICTON, NB-The New Brunswick Department of Environment and Local Government recently launched a 180-day public review process to renew the air quality operating approval for AV Cell's pulp mill in Atholville. The facility's current five-year air quality operating approval expires Dec. 31, 2004. Written comments will be accepted until October 5, 2004. The public review process addresses air quality-related issues including questions or comments regarding air emissions, pollution control equipment, conditions proposed in the draft approval, monitoring and reporting requirements, and enforcement and compliance information. Non-air related inquires received during the process are directed to staff of the Department of the Environment and Local Government, or to other government agencies or facilities for response.
