REC awarded contract for demolition, abatement at Weyerhaeuser facility in Sturgeon Falls

TORONTO, ONT-Restoration Environmental Contractors (REC) and REC Demolition have been awarded a contract valued at between $1 and $2 million for the demolition of the Weyerhaeuser pulp and paper mill in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. The project includes demolition of the 300,000-square-foot plant, environmental abatement work and equipment asset disposal. REC will auction a 300-ton-per-day medium corrugated paper machine from the Weyerhaeuser plant. Additional equipment will also be auctioned. REC has also been awarded a $5-million contract with Public Works and Government Services Canada and PCL Constructors Canada of Ottawa for demolition and environmental abatement of the Victoria Museum and the Canadian Museum of Nature. REC and REC Demolition specialize in environmental abatement and demolition services including removal of asbestos, lead, mould and fungus; demolition and environmental cleaning of industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and chemical facilities; removal of bird, bat and animal feces; and control of biological hazards, infectious disease pathogens in healthcare facilities.
