Epcor to propose 54 MW wind power project on Lake Huron

EDMONTON, ALTA-An agreement between Epcor Power Development Corporation and Port Albert Wind Farm (PAWF) will giver Epcor the right to a 53.6-megawatt (MW) wind farm proposed for a site near Port Albert, 200 km west of Toronto near the shore of Lake Huron. The wind farm project will be submitted to the Ontario Ministry of Energy by July 30, 2004, as part of the Ontario government's request for proposal (RFP) process to develop alternative energy sources. "Epcor has over 100 years of history in developing power projects, and has built an exceptional range of expertise in both conventional and alternative power technologies," said Epcor president Chris Heffring. "This experience will ensure that Epcor develops a proposal that is technically sound and on a scale that helps Canada achieve its wind power potential." Epcor's work in designing, constructing and operating alternative and renewable energy projects includes small hydro, wind power, solar, and landfill gas.
