Drive Clean inspector guilty of falsifying emission test results
TORONTO, ONT-A former employee of Father Emission, in Scarborough, Ont, was fined $2,000 and levied a 25% victim fine surcharge after pleading guilty to submitting a false test result to the Ministry of Environment (MOE), in violation section 184(2) of the Environmental Protection Act (EPA), involving the electronic submission of false or misleading information to the MOE. The court was told that on August 14, 2002, Shahin Misaghinejad, a certified Drive Clean inspector, was observed conducting an emissions test on a Dodge Neon; the vehicle passed the test. However, the vehicle identification number of a 1984 Pontiac Firebird was entered into the dynamometer testing unit and submitted electronically to the MOE. The Firebird thereby received a pass on the test by using the Neon's test results.
