Irving Oil fined $15K for diesel fuel release

FREDERICTON, NB-Irving Oil was recently fined a total of $15,000 after pleading guilty to a charge of violating section 3(1) of the Water Quality regulation under New Brunswick's Clean Environment Act. The Department of Environment and Local Government laid the charge in July 2003 following a November 2002 incident in which the Irving Oil refinery released diesel fuel into the Little River. The court assigned $10,000 of the total fine to be shared equally by Ducks Unlimited and ACAP Saint John to support community-based environmental initiatives.
