Dillon becomes first consulting firm in Ont to buy OPG green power

TORONTO, ONT-Dillon Consulting has become the first consulting firm in Ontario to purchase Evergreen(tm) Energy green power from Ontario Power Generation (OPG). Over the next year, Dillon will buy 200 megawatt-hours of green power from OPG for use at its offices in Ontario. The purchase is particularly noteworthy because it represents about 20% of Dillon's total electricity consumption at its Ontario locations. The Canadian-owned firm provides consulting services in infrastructure, facilities, community development and environmental management. Its green power purchase "allows us to practice what we preach," said Dillon president Jim Balfour, who added that, "given that Dillon was involved in the development of several wind power facilities that now generate Green Power in Ontario, it is fitting that we become a downstream purchaser of that power." All OPG's environmentally friendly products are produced by facilities which have been EcoLogo-certified, or equivalent, under the federal government's Environmental Choice(tm) program.
