Westport signs accord to continue technology collaboration with Isuzu

VANCOUVER, BC-Westport Innovations recently signed an agreement with Isuzu Motors of Japan to continue the companies' technology development partnership. The continued collaboration will focus on assessing the global market potential for the monofuel, compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered direct injection technology developed by the two firms. Isuzu will provide funding to enable Westport to advance the technical development of key technologies for the project while a market analysis is done. The new agreement follows from the success of a prototype truck, equipped with a 4.5-litre monofuel engine using Westport's direct injection technology; the vehicle won three awards in the efficiency, emissions and noise categories at the Michelin Challenge Bibendum, a leading international competition for environmental, advanced-technology engines.
