Water bottling firm operator fined $5K for non-compliance
KITCHENER, ONT-Edward Frederick Bauman was fined $5,000 after pleading guilty to a charge of non-compliance with an Environmental Appeal Board order. As part of his water bottling operation, Bauman and his company, Laurel Springs Water transport water to the firm's site in Waterloo from another location. An August 4, 2000 Environmental Appeal Board Order required Bauman and Laurel Springs Water to apply to the Ministry of Environment for a certificate of approval for surface water discharge. Bauman and the company did not do so, and their failure to apply for the C of A as required contravened Section 186(2) of the Environmental Protection Act. Bauman was given 30 days to pay the fine.
