Ottawa Hospital, Honeywell sign energy efficiency deal

OTTAWA, ONT-The Ottawa Hospital has entered a 15-year agreement with Honeywell Building Solutions under which the hospital will invest $17 million to upgrade lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation and building control systems at its facilities. The upgrades will reduce Ottawa Hospital's $14-million annual utility/energy costs, with savings of $2.7 million per year guaranteed under the agreement. Through the innovative partnership, Honeywell will provide its engineering and energy management expertise to co-ordinate the implementation of infrastructure upgrades at the hospital. A portion of the resulting energy cost savings will be used to repay for the upgrades, with the remainder directed toward hospital operations and patient care.
