Ontario to invest $1.5M in technical studies to support water source protection planning
TORONTO, ONT-The Ontario government is investing $1.5 million in new technical studies aimed at advancing responsible water resource management. "This funding is an essential step in fulfilling our government's commitment to source protection planning and will help to protect drinking water from source to tap," said Environment Minister Leona Dombrowsky. The technical studies will include a study by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority to examine the impact of pollution on Lake Simcoe. The results will become part of a consistent base of groundwater information across the province that will be used by municipalities and conservation authorities as they move ahead with source protection planning.
